Posted: July 6th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Content Management Systems, Services And Tools | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

Content Management System Forums are all about allowing the content on your web presence to be created by any website visitor and potential fan of your band and music. You can create topical discussion on which to bring new discussion angles. Update your band news to the forum to see what the subscribers have to say.

Believe it or not, community forums are very easy to manage and install. There is no real use for using forums hosted elsewhere, such as freeboards.  Once you have purchased web site hosting your ready to go with your own band community.

A self hosted forum can be tracked how and when you want, styled to match your brand/website and ran how you think it needs to be managed. With other benefits such as loads of content created for you, backlinks pointing towards a website you own there is no need to wait any longer, have a look through the available open source content management system and get your community talking. You can learn how to install your own band community in minutes.

List of Domain Registrars For Bands

Posted: May 26th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Domain Registrars, Services And Tools | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

Domain Registrars are the beginning of any web presence. Once the domain name is chosen, these are your first port of call. You will be able to check if they are available to purchase. If the domain is available, then that is great news and you will be ready to see where has a good customer base and support the cheapest available. Prices can range from 99p, if there are reductions and up to hundreds of pounds for a  dot fm domain extension.

One quick tip for you, if you are still thinking about a band name, have a search on Google to see what else comes up and to see what competition there is for that name, phrase etc.  If you’re going to name your band Microsoft then you will have an impossible challenge ahead getting in to the top 10 of Google’s rankings and any other search engine.  Obviously this name will never be chosen by a band but is something to consider if you wish fans to find you through a search engine.

List of Other Band Tools & Services – Setlist, Lyrics, Other Notifications

Posted: March 2nd, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Services And Tools, Setlist and Lyrics | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Setlist and Lyrics, although it’s important to put all the possible content you can into words and on your own website first, using these services will give you vital authoritative back links to your website that you will always need. The set list services are new to social communities and after a gig, including these information uploads in your routine will do no harm.

Some of the services allow your band to protect the lyrics you have created and are still able to be searched.  The great thing about passing on content as valuable as this is that if it is searched and your Search Engine Optimization is yet to kick-in on the search engines you have the potential to be found from the likes of Google through these other services.  In turn, placing a link to your website where the lyrics are to be found will keep fans coming to your bands website.

Your Band Is A Business, New Guide Update Soon

Posted: February 15th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Well, I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the couple of months I gave myself off from writing articles for Autonomous Industry.  In the end I both enjoyed myself and wrote some very interesting pieces which I hope to be adding to this site in the forthcoming weeks.

I have had a few New Years Resolutions added to my routine specifically for music marketing, as after all it dictates what I will be doing in my spare time and hopefully sending my music projects and this site to newer visitors.  One of them is to write a 200 word article, on whatever I want and hopefully mention the words ‘music’ and ‘marketing’ every month.  So expect some random short summaries by myself from February through to November.  This post will include February’s and also some news of which I and the rest at Autonomous Industry are very excited about.

So here is February’s blurb:

Your band, art and music is a business. No matter where you are in the world, this is an undeniable fact.  I can bet that right now you are using Facebook as a self promotional tool, this you may not even realise.  Just like the majority of bands out there who don’t know they have set up a business.  They are sole traders, partnerships and/or limited companies, its all the same.  Once you can conquer this thought, you are on your way to ‘setting and foregetting’  and then actually making the most of your sound.  Now its just a case of keeping on top of our updates here at Autonomous Industry or other music marketing/promotional websites and utilizing the tools available within our directory.  The 74 page guide is still available to follow which also leads on to our new release.

Next week, after six months of being a music marketing resource.  Autonomous Industry will be releasing the 74 page guide as a PDF document.  This will include new updates, tutorials and websites which we reckon will help mold your band for 2011 and beyond.  We shall be updating you over the next few days so you can get the copy through whichever medium you wish.

Social Bookmarking allows media of all formats, web pages or other possible viral content to be passed on. By the submission of an individual or getting  it voted to a more popular status on the service. The end idea is for users to organize, store, manage, share and share the websites they want. This can result in better search engine ranking position and much more!

Its now up to your band to see which services you wish to advertise to make sure the visitor of your site or potential fan uses such a service to help your bands authority online.  You can check out how to get these on your website in the guide where we talk about social plugins for bands.  As well as our forthcoming directory category regards these tools.

List of Image Hosting Services

Posted: November 18th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Image Hosting, Services And Tools | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Image Hosting services can provide a great repetoir of tools for your music images and band photos. Saving on transfer bandwidth is a great benefit we mention about most of the media hosting tools and services available online.  Images embedded on to your site will work exactly the same as if you hosted them yourself.  Tagging the images well will improve the amount of views your images get on the service and possibly increase traffic to your own site.

Other great benefits of image hosting services is uploading content on the fly, whether at a gig , or recording some new music in the studio, after taking the photo you can instantaneously upload that image, categorize, tag and comment. It will be there for the world to see and if that service is linked to your website, it will automatically be added to any albums or slideshow you have embedded. It’s up to your band to keep the images flowing with the majority of mobile phones having cameras.
