If someone visit’s a page of your site, that page is 10Kb, then for that one view it will have cost you 10Kb due to the page being downloaded to be viewed. I estimate about 10,000 to 20,000 website visitors for approximately 10Gb bandwidth per month. Bandwidth use is another way to view this.
Hosting space
Your going to need space to host your files for your website amongst other things. Do not worry about this area too much though. As the guide will show, there are plenty of options for third party hosting services to host the majority of your media. They will also do more than hold it, you can promote through that service and much more. If you have 50Gb of space, you can upload, text, images, videos worth the accumulative sum of 50Gb.
Number of Domain’s / E-Mail / Databases
As we only address setting up the one domain, you will only have to handle a few email addresses and databases will be at a minimum to hold your website and its information.
There are other companies that will host services for you, from e-mail lists, image albums and even your songs.
Try to aim for a handful of domains allowed on the hosting, at least 10 e-mails allowed and a couple of databases will be ample.
The hosting service used in this guide has 5 databases allowed and unlimited emails.
You need to arrange where to buy/purchase your hosting. Split your choices up in to bandwidth, space and then lesser features such as a cPanel or how many emails allowed. Then order by price and whether they come with a domain or not.
When purchasing hosting you need an idea for your domain so you can buy your hosting and domain at the same place to resolve any issues with synching your name servers compared to buying at separate hosts/registrars.
