There would be no point in doing any of this guide if your site did not work in at least Internet Explorer 6+ / Firefox 1+ / Safari and Google Chrome 1+. With web development experience we feel for all those others who sometimes have to deal with these niggles of design and implementation on a daily basis… Firefox has been used in the creation of this guide so give it a look.

If you have had your site done by a designer with a portfolio or past work, you know it will be covered its good to ask just in case.

The reason why we need to check all browsers is due to the stats for usege of each browser rapidly changes all the time, so its a must to cover all of the main ones.

Take a look at http://browsershots.org/ to see how a website will look

It is important to have your website work in all the browsers available, you should not have too much of a problem with using Content Management System themes and templates, but it is always wise to check.  The biggest problem web designers have is creating usable designs for Internet Explorer. Getting your site to look the same across all these should be up there as a high priority, as if your web presence is putting people off due to its broken look, you won’t be helping your future on-line.  Make sure you check Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera.

Download each browser, check a few pages within your website and if it looks good then move on to the next.

Proofread

There may be a bit of difference between this guide and content on your website but the potential to find new fans is still the same.  Proof reading will help with any language translation tools you have on the website, it won’t come out wrong if you have miss spelt anything and a visitor from a different country than yourself visits the site and tries to translate your content.
Get other people to read it, there are plenty of beneficial reasons to having some other people look over your work.

Links

As you navigate your website, check every link which is on the page.  Make sure they get to their desired location, whether they open correctly in new tabs, new windows or just replace the page they were originially on.

Your logo should link to your home page, everyone else uses this idea so implementing this yourself is conforming to known ways of navigation.
