TweetIn case the unavoidable happens and the servers which host your information blow up, or any other number of unfortunate events. The host we use here at Autonomous Industry automatically back up our work each evening free of charge, though it’s always good practice to back up your information to your pc or to somewhere else on the internet.
Having an exact copy of your on line world on your home computers is the ideal solution. Another thing is to have your work emailed to you. With the following plugin we can do just that with WordPress.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/
In your WordPress plugins tab, click Add new. Here you can go through WordPress’s search function and install any plugins automatically without using ftp or downloading the files seperately.
The WordPress Database Backup plugin is the one we have used on many blog set ups, it has automatic scheduling, so you never have to think about it again until something bad does happen which we hope it does not.
Install the plugin and activate it, so you can go through its settings and make sure you secure your future work.
Once activated, go to the plugins settings, which are in Tools tab. Sometimes plugins change their installed settings area. It can be within Tool or Settings or just within your Widget tab, as you install and activate the plugins should mention where to edit their settings.
Choose your admin email address and make sure you choose when to back up your blog. If you post a couple of times a week then just do it once per week as you will only ever loose one published piece of work which in the realm of things is nothing.
Your database, its users and your published content is now all secure and ready for future restores incase the worst happens.
