TweetOther vital things to consider when setting up your community are making sure real people register, we don’t want random bots adding their spam to your forum. You obviously wish to add or change forum categories, change your password and even add some news. These steps are as follows;
Your password can be changed at any time in your profile, not only that, but you can change any one’s password due to your administrator rights in the forum.
At the bottom of this section you can put your new password in and change your profile. The next time you log in you will have to use your new password you have just set. This is the first step, securing the admin logins.
There are plenty of plugins / extensions available to aid in security, simply typing in ‘security’ will show you how you can continually improve your site from attack.
Login to your admin control panel to change these settings and hopefully no unwanted bots will register to your forum and spam.
Under the members section, click on Registration. Here you can change any part of the process that people will go through to register on your forums.
In the SETTINGS tab, make your forum at least Member Activation. This means they have to go to their email service to register their account. Change the strength for passwords and make sure the visual verification image is set to High.
Your forum should now be safe against spammers and looking as you desire it to. Whats next is the last few steps you will take before the content creation begins.
