This tool is a part of the music marketing tools directory, see what tools could help your band.

Domai.nr

“Domainr is a fast, free utility for finding and registering domain names for your website or short URL service. Search .com, .net, .org and other top-level domains, instantly check availability, and connect to the registrar of your choice.”

A great service to use if you are coming short for ideas with domain names.  This could just be how del.icio.us got their idea.

Instead of just thinking about a .com, they will provide you with all the other top level domain choices so that if you search for your band name, which may be “gofaster”. You will be presented with; gofast.er as a replacement idea. Something which may help solidify a brand online and offline.

Dave Grohls new band Vultures have used vultur.es which is the Spanish domain extension. Out of it they are still using their name but also adding another touch which may be more recognisable with the correct imagery.

Guide and Site Translation

Posted: July 30th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

This website as a project has been in development for some time, but one of the things that has always been at the forefront of future marketing ideas is that of translation.

We see that bands are not just local to us anymore, more and more i personally get in to music which is both foreign to my ear and nationality.

Well we have been working hard with some good friends for a couple of months now and i can promise that when the first ebook is released based on the guide you see to the right of our website, there should be choice of a few European languages. We can’t say which ones yet due to some being attempted yet not finalised, rest assure those who are struggling with the translate feature at the bottom of each page, we will beat the tools to it.

This is quite a big problem not only with band and music websites but nearly every service or product featured on the internet, there are traits of a global audience platform but the global audience still has some problems that can only be sorted with a lot more work by the services currently providing these features.

If you would like to help us out, our first aim is to have the step by step guide translated, even if it is only one page or a paragraph we would highly apprecaite it.

Just contact us as info [at] autonomousindustry.com or via the contact form.

Our Music Marketing Introduction, Video

Posted: July 23rd, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: News | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

With the recording studio i built for another project, more musical than marketing. I have been able to successfully record a good friend of mine. She has helped finish off the narrative of the subject of Autonomous Industry very well!

It’s just over a minute in length and hopefully it concisely explains what we are about and how we wish to conduct our research for future updates of the guide.

The feeling with the guide we wish to put across is that of a DIY one.  With this in mind, the video sure could do with a fancier video background and i think i know the right person to do the job.

Now it is beyond the capabilities of anyone at Autonomous Industry but outsourcing a friend to do the work is very plausible.  After brainstorming the wordings and painting a picture with actual pictures a graphic designer friend of mine, Tom will be creating a more vivid video time line to better suit what the narrative is talking about.

This job should take another couple of weeks but we will keep you up to date as of its launch.

Continuing the marketing routine of this websites launch i have had to spare an hour or two of my time so that the site can be branded better.   The reason for this post is down to outsourcing skills closest to you and as local as possible.

When attacking your own marketing strategy which may even include a banner design for a new E.P. your band is releasing.  You will have to write down this job in hand, as graphics to go along with a promotional release could be given to press release websites/companies.  Here you will not only be trying to capture your target audience but passing on media which is more inclined to be passed on.

So if you try and Keep It Simple Stupid with your bands marketing and website creation, you can still KISS by passing on a job or two to those who can help.

Networking is always positive, what jobs have you been able to be covered on any musical projects?
