TweetThere are just a few basic steps within the uploading part of Youtube.  Just like the other services they are very simple to navigate, customize and use.  The downside however is they do not highlight the most important parts of setting up your brand on a service such as Youtube.  A pet hate is seeing a video on Youtube with less than a handful of descriptive words.  Without these words the video would not get much notice unless it went viral and (instead of people searching for it), with it being passed along like many of the great virals to date.

The important parts such as tags, having a domain in your description above the fold and other little intricacies will without a doubt help with new visitor numbers.  They are within your grasp to edit and optimize to the best of your ability so adhere to some simple rules and add to them if you can.

Here I am using a short video which shows how to add new email addresses on your hostings control panel which is linked to your bands domain name.

It was originally ‘setting_up_email_cpanel.avi’. I have renamed it with the websites name and a quick intro ‘Create professional email addresses for bands’.  Youtube allows you to add longer titles but this will do for now as I can ellaborate later within the Tags.  Put your website url within the first two sentences for it to be above the fold, (this is the cut off point where it will be out of sight of the visitor.)  So if they go to the page this video will be on they should see the url without moving their page.

You can add many more tags than are available on your channels page.  Here I have tied the tags in to what Autonomous Industry is which are the ‘guide, strategies, marketing’ tags.  There are some about the actual video as well.  Trying to guess what people may search for to find such a video as this one is a challenging process, but its benefits if done correctly can be very valuable.

The video is now on the new look 2010 Youtube, with the description, it’s category and tags on show.  Why not put some annotations in and get your visitors to share, like or embed the content across the internet.
